Express Entry Requirements

Click to FIND OUT IF YOU QUALIFY TO COME TO CANADA.   Dear Miss Powell, Thank you for all those useful articles about the Canadian immigration system. They have really helped me with my application. I am now in the express entry pool and my score is 448 and so I expect that I will soon get an invitation to apply for permanent residence. When I applied, they didn’t ask for any documents. I’m trying to get myself ready, but I don’t know what to expect. A friend said that she didn’t get a checklist until late and she almost missed the deadline. Can you please tell me what documents they will need so that I can be prepared? Thank you for all your help. JC Dear JC, I am pleased to hear from readers who let me know that my articles have helped them. Congratulations on being accepted into the express entry pool and for having such a high Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS). Let us keep our fingers crossed that they will select you in the next draw. Immigration Corner | What Should I Submit Re: Relative in Canada

Dear Ms Powell, I have an urgent question. I applied for my son under the express-entry system and put that he has an aunt in Canada. He got an invitation to apply and they are now asking for proof that he has an aunt there. What documents can I submit? What if I can't get the documents in time? - WL Dear WL, Congratulations to your son for receiving an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Canada. The express entry system is points-based. Additional points are awarded for adaptability if there is proof that at least one of the following relatives is in Canada: aunt, uncle, brother, sister, parent, grandparent, child, niece, nephew, or spouse. He will need to provide documents to substantiate the information presented in the initial express-entry profile. Since you indicated that your son has an aunt in Canada, the necessary proof required are documents to show how the parties are related, the relative's legal status in Canada and proof that she is ...

Canada Immigration: Thinking Of Studying In Canada

Dear Ms Powell, I heard about a school in Halifax where I can study 'massage and hydrotherapy'. Can you tell me how I can find out if this school is accredited? Can I get a permit to stay in Canada when I finish? - CR Dear CR, It is a good idea to check if a school is accredited or is considered to be a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) by Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), before you embark on studies as a pathway to becoming a permanent resident in Canada. There is a list of DLIs which may be found on IRCC's official website:  www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-institutions-list.asp . On the successful completion of your studies, you may apply for a post graduate work permit (PGWP). The work permit will allow you to work in Canada for a specific period of time. The amount of time that you will be granted will be based on the length of your studies. The permit will not be granted for a period longer than the period of study. Therefore...

Thinking about selling everything and moving to Canada ( Express Entry Rounds)

Dear Ms Powell, I've been thinking about applying under the express entry system to go to Canada, and I have my English exam results and credentials report ready to apply. I am, however, short on funds in my bank account but have an apartment and a car that I could sell, and I would have more than enough money for myself and my family. My concern is that I might sell my apartment and car and then never receive an invitation to apply, leaving my life in a shambles as I'm sure I couldn't replace those things easily. I checked my score and I realise that even though I could get in the pool, I only have 389 points. Can you tell me, based on my points, when I expect to get an invitation to apply? - YT  Dear YT, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) released a report on the express entry system that provided some clarity about the selection process, yet it did not increase our ability to predict when they will select a particular score. In March, many practitioners ...

Facts about the New Express Entry Programme Published in  Jamaica Gleaner - Tuesday | December 9, 2014 Dear Ms Powell, I  am  very interested in the Express Entry programme and I've searched the Internet and all the information is vague. I'm a professional, and I'm prepared to invest in Canada, and I want to know if the investor-entrepreneur class will reopen. N.N. Dear N.N. There has been much speculation about the Express Entry Programme as Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has not unveiled the full details of the programme. However, on December 1, Minister Chris Alexander made an announcement to clarify many uncertainties and I summarise the basic facts below. Who can apply? The Federal Immigrant Investor Class and Federal Entrepreneur class will remain closed until further notice and will not be available under the Express Entry. The Express Entry is open to skilled workers who qualify under the Federal Skilled Worker Programme , Feder...
