Immigration Corner | Can I Apply To Live In Canada As An Accountant?

Click link to c omplete our free online form to FIND OUT IF YOU QUALIFY TO COME TO CANADA. Dear Miss Powell, I am interested in moving to Canada as a chartered accountant. I know that you have helped some of my friends, but they had a degree in accounting from The University of the West Indies. I do not have a degree, but I have an ACCA certification. Would I still qualify under the Federal Skilled Worker Programme? I know that the United States has stopped taking applications, but is Canada accepting immigration applications? Would I get a job as an accountant if I get to go to Canada? My half-sister lives in Canada. Does that help my application? I look forward to your response. – K.A. Dear K.A., The Canadian government is still accepting online applications for all the immigration programmes. This includes applications for visitor, study and work permits, as well as applications which fall under the Express Entry System, such as the Federal Skilled Worker Programme, F

How to get Canadian Citizenship

Click link to c omplete our free online form to FIND OUT IF YOU QUALIFY TO COME TO CANADA.   Dear Miss Powell, Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I hope it will be one of the answers published. I am a nurse in Jamaica and I have been offered a job as a caregiver in Canada. I am interested, but I would need to know that I can become a citizen if I take that job. Would I be allowed to take my daughter? Can she attend high school? What are our options to become citizens? – M.K. Dear M.K., Thank you for contacting us. The pathway to citizenship in Canada is usually a two-step process for most immigrants and in some cases, three, depending on the route you take to come to Canada. Since you indicate that you have a job offer as a caregiver, I will outline the current most common pathway to citizenship for individuals with a valid job offer as a live-in caregiver. Exam for immigration purposes

Click link to c omplete our free online form to FIND OUT IF YOU QUALIFY TO COME TO CANADA.   Dear Ms Powell, I hear that there are exams you have to do if you want to immigrate to Canada as a skilled worker? Is that true for persons living in Jamaica? Why is the test needed? I have a bachelor’s degree. What if I want to study? Do I need to do an exam if I’m studying too? How can I ensure I’m successful? Are the exams online? – G.G. Dear G.G., Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requires that persons who wish to live permanently in Canada will need to provide evidence of their language skills. Therefore, you must prove your language ability in at least one of the two official languages in Canada, English and/or French, regardless of country of origin. LANGUAGE TEST Proof of language ability is demonstrated by providing examination results from either the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), General Training or Canadian English Language

Immigration Corner | Can I Continue To Work After My Permit Expires?

Dear Mrs Powell, I look forward to your articles every week. I have been working in Canada for the past two years and my work permit expires in a few days. I’m worried that because of the coronavirus, I may not get a chance to put in the application. Can I continue to work with my employer? I don’t want to break any rules, so tell what to do quickly. If I can work, where can I get a document to show my employer that I can continue to work until the papers are approved? Also, can I take a quick weekend trip to Jamaica once it opens up to just get a little break? Will I have problems coming back? Thank you for all your help. – K.A. Dear K.A., The general rule is that you should apply for a renewal of your work permit before it expires. In fact, it is recommended that you apply at least 30 days in advance. If you apply for a work permit extension or renewal before your work permit expires, you can continue working until a final decision is made on your application. You ar
